To address gaps in “Energy Equity” and Job Disparity” in North Carolina’s Clean Energy Industry, CHOEDC has established the North Carolina Racial Equity in Energy Project (NC REEP) to promote and accelerate the advancement of Racial Equity in Energy in our state. The main goals of the NC REEP is to expand resources available to communities of color for real and measurable improvement in energy resilience starting with African American communities. Additionally, equitable access for all North Carolinians—including historically marginalized –to clean energy’s jobs and economic benefits; and ensure communities of color receive more than a proportional share of the wealth transfer that will occur as the U.S. transitions into a clean energy economy.
